*********************

As a researcher who is committed to the use of original records, I am adamantly opposed to the 'click and grab' philosophy of family history research in which people find someone online with the same surname as them and assume there is a connection; therefore I encourage any researcher of Irish family history to use only legitimate resources. As an historian, I believe that the further away we get from the original historical record the more malleable that record becomes.

Also, if you have the opportunity I encourage you to go to the source, Ireland. In Ireland you can access records which may never be online, and just being in the country gives you a sense, albeit a modern day sense, of what life may have been like for your Irish ancestors.
